The
10th Harpenden Brownies
The 10th Harpenden Brownie Pack was
started in 23rd August 1957 and meets every Friday night between
6.15 and 7.30pm in the Lecture Hall. The age range is seven to ten-and-a-half.
As Brownies we make a promise:
"To do my best, to love my God, to serve
the Queen and my country, to help other people and to keep the Brownie
Guide Law"
We follow an eight point programme adapted to suit each girl's age
and ability. Above all we aim to have fun through activities, badgework
and games.
The Brownies have been helping other people by raising money for
Children in Need by putting on a show, Comic Relief by wearing red
noses for an evening and they also helped raise funds for a Guide
Centre in Hertfordshire by testing their memories in a sponsored
Kim's game. We have visited Hatfield House, Harpenden fire station,
Harpenden library and pantomime at the Alban Arena last Christmas.
These visits have all coincided with Interest Badge work from Fire
Fighters to Book Lover Badges.
This pack has also seen the weddings of three leaders, one in Ely
Cathedral where we formed a guard of honour and were much admired
by the tourists, another leader married in Ireland and the third
one had a splendid guard of honour at High Street. We have an active
and fun Brownie Pack if you are interested in joining us, as a Brownie
or a leader, we would welcome an enquiry from you.
If you are
interested in joining the Brownies or want more information please
email the church office at office@highstreetmethodist.org.uk
