The Prodigal God

Is Jesus’ story, the so-called Prodigal Son, one of the most wonderful ever told? It is so heart-warming that God has such a large heart that we are all included.  In this book Timothy Keller, who pastored a church in Manhattan, New York, takes a fresh look at Jesus’ story and through it lets the heart of God shine through. Although the book is aimed for personal use only, it could be adapted for a home group with some preparation.

In 7 short chapters, Keller uses the story to redefine words familiar to us, e.g. sin, hope and salvation. In so doing, he argues that the story while well-known is frequently mis-understood. He shows how both the younger son and the older son miss the loving heart of the Prodigal, extravagant, Father. The book is both inspiring and challenging.
